Why Become an Exhibitor?Business and industry leaders want to ensure the positive economic and civic health of Central Texas. Skillpoint Alliance’s Annual College & Career Fair offers the potential to relate expectations for future employees and to serve as career role models by showcasing businesses, services and “tools of the trade.” Students want the opportunity to interact with industry professionals and consult with college recruiters who give them an understanding of what they need to know to advance professionally. Our business and community partners’ support allows students to observe and learn industry-related skills in an entertaining, informative atmosphere. Skillpoint Alliance’s partners in banking and financial companies can advise students how to finance a college education; industry partners can assist in showing how to develop a career pathway and the level of higher education necessary for success in various fields; participating institutions of higher education can offer students guidance on admissions and programs as well as life on campus; and exhibitors can make presentations in fields such as culinary arts and healthcare.  Ronald Smith evacuated from Hurricane Katrina and arrived in Austin with only $40. He came to Skillpoint Alliance where we helped him obtain skills in construction through our adult workforce program, Construction Gateway. He then found employment with Zachry Construction in Austin. “Hope was a main element and this program, Construction Gateway, enhanced it and gave me the opportunity to expand my skills,” Smith said. “The people of Austin have been very generous to me.
