Skillpoint Alliance Educator Institutes provide professional development that brings teachers into environments where classroom concepts come alive. These industry-led trainings allow teachers to explore and collaborate, and participants leave with resources that will help them engage and excite their students.
Featuring the 2010 Body Forward™ Challenge Description: This three-day workshop is designed for new and experienced teachers, high-tech mentors, parents, and others interested in participating in FIRST® LEGO® League robotics in the classroom or in competition during the 2010-11 school year. Educators learn MINDSTORMS, how to build an FLL team and tour a biomedical engineering site relevant to the 2010 Body Forward™ Challenge. Times: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Cost: $125

 Ronald Smith evacuated from Hurricane Katrina and arrived in Austin with only $40. He came to Skillpoint Alliance where we helped him obtain skills in construction through our adult workforce program, Construction Gateway. He then found employment with Zachry Construction in Austin. “Hope was a main element and this program, Construction Gateway, enhanced it and gave me the opportunity to expand my skills,” Smith said. “The people of Austin have been very generous to me.
