Gateway Plumbing
Gateway Plumbing is an additional component to the Gateway Construction core component which includes:
- Additional 4-Weeks of Class (8-Weeks Total)
- Certificate: NCCER Level-1 Plumbing
Gateway Plumbing began classes on September 19, 2011 in response to a rising demand for more rapid employment training programs within the construction industry’s skilled labor pool. A component of Gateway Construction Tech, Gateway Plumbing provides training for students interested in beginning or enhancing a career as a Plumber’s Helper, general Plumbing work or in entry-level employment with a Plumbing Contractor or General Contractor. Gateway Plumbing also prepares its Graduates for their Apprentice Plumber License, once employed.
Gateway Plumbing students enroll in an 8 week program that includes the 4-week Construction Core program and a comprehensive 4-week Plumbing training program. Interested students who have completed the Construction Core program, already have their NCCER Introductory Craft Skill certification or who meet the experience requirements to be exempt from completing the Core program can apply for only the 4-week Plumbing curriculum.
Gateway Plumbing students will benefit from the partnerships Gateway develops with area apprentice programs: Plumbing Heating & Cooling Contractors, Associated Builders & Contractors and the Plumbers & Pipefitters Union who will speak in class or provide opportunities for field trip to tour their offices and job sites.
The Gateway Plumbing students also complete intensive hands-on work on training equipment and also outfit the Playhouses built in the Construction Core program. The students will add drainage, rain collection & watering systems to the buildings.
