TEEC Quarterly Meeting - December 2010

The Technology & Education Executive Council (TEEC) at Skillpoint Alliance hosted its Fourth Quarter meeting on Friday, December 3, 2010. The meeting was open to a select list of executives from the high tech, green tech, education, and non-profit sectors to discuss project-based STEM education in Central Texas in order to better serve our regional economy.

Applied Materials hosted the Quarterly Meeting, which drew roughly 30 business, community, and education executives for the high-energy briefing.  The morning included pecha-kucha** presentations by: UTeachEngineering, Feria Para Aprender, the E3 Alliance, Applied Materials, Citizen Schools, and Skillpoint Alliance, which provided a fast-paced insight into the unique work the council and its members do.

**Never heard of pecha-kucha?  “Drawing its name from the Japanese term for the sound of "chit chat," it rests on a presentation format that is based on a simple idea:  20 images x 20 seconds.  It's a format that makes presentations concise, and keeps things moving at a rapid pace.”

"The whole experience with Gateway and Skillpoint Alliance has electrified my quest for life. Each team coordinator made us feel like we were a part of their lives and not just another number on their paychecks. I personally learned more than electrical work; I learned how to conduct myself professionally. I loved the whole experience and hope that this will be a lasting reflection for years to come." - Gateway Electrical Student
