Educator Institutes provide educators an opportunity to learn new and exciting ways to incorporate industry and community into the process of instruction. Site tours, hands-on activities, engaging discussion and lectures from industry experts and professionals connect educators to local resources in an innovative, professional development experience. Teachers relate institute information to academic areas such as:

Algebra, Geometry and Calculus
Biology, Physics and ICP
Media Tech, Computer Science and Tech Apps
Middle School Math, Science and Robotics courses and programs

2011 Summer Courses

A special THANK YOU to our sponsors and business partners who collaborated on this past summer’s Educator Institutes. This series of summer programs provided professional development to area teachers. The industry-led trainings allowed teachers to visit Austin area businesses, engage in hands-on learning and work in a fun and collaborative environment. The Educator Institutes offer teachers new ideas and resources to deliver to their students and we appreciate all of the educators who took time out of their relaxing summer break to participate in Skillpoint’s summer program. Ronald Smith evacuated from Hurricane Katrina and arrived in Austin with only $40. He came to Skillpoint Alliance where we helped him obtain skills in construction through our adult workforce program, Construction Gateway. He then found employment with Zachry Construction in Austin. “Hope was a main element and this program, Construction Gateway, enhanced it and gave me the opportunity to expand my skills,” Smith said. “The people of Austin have been very generous to me.
